Encinitas Beach Cottage
Beach Budget Remodel!
This remodel was a joint effort of skilled workers, a designer, and an architect aiming to keep the cottage's charm. We worked hard within a limited budget to make our client's dream come true!
Japandi Trend in action! This round dining table allows for perfect sunset splashed conversations
This charming beach cottage from the 1940s was a patchwork of DIY additions. The plumbing was outdated, the electrical system needed an upgrade, the roof had leaks, skylights were cracked, and insulation was virtually nonexistent. However, it was situated on one of the most stunning and sought-after lots in Encinitas (Leucadia), Southern California, boasting breathtaking sunset views. Restoring this property was both a blessing and a challenge. With a limited budget, it required the expertise and creativity of contractors, a designer, an architect, and skilled tradespeople to complete the project on time and within budget.
The mismatched flooring was removed (hello asbestos) and replaced with elegant polished concrete. Kitchen cabinets were sourced from Semi-Handmade and assembled by skilled tradesmen. New windows and doors were installed to enhance the facade, providing a better view. Trade discounts helped the homeowner acquire new "Japandi Style" furniture that perfectly complemented the beach theme. Light fixtures were sourced from Etsy, while tiles were obtained from Floor and Decor. The final result was a cozy blend of Japandi and bohemian styles, creating the ideal beach cottage of my client's dreams.
During demolition, many treasures were found like the peace sign ladened wood painting from 1958!
